Do you like riding a bicycle but has many problems to communicate with the cars?
This project is based on LilyPadturn signal biking jacket, created by Leah Buchley. It consists of two arrows of LEDs to be installed in the back of the bicycle and two buttons attached to guidon that will be used to trigger those arrows and also used to indicate that the rider will turn to the left or right. Moreover, I added two features in the code that are activated when the two buttons are pressed in order left> right and right> left. Pressing the buttons in these orders, the arrows start to flash indicating a state of alert. This is useful to ride on highways or roads, especially at night.
The project was assembled using the Arduino Duemilanove for prototyping, and in the next days I want to make a circuit with a standalone ATMEGA8 or a ATMEGA168 and put it in my own bicycle. For now, I provide the code that I used in the prototype and a video showing the operation.

Ele consiste em duas setas de leds que serão instaladas na traseira da bicicleta e de dois botões acoplados ao guidon que serão usados para acionar as setas, usadas para indicar que o ciclista irá virar para a esquerda ou para a direita. Além disso, adicionei ao código duas features que são ativadas quando os dois botões são apertados na ordem, esquerdo>direito e direito>esquerdo. Apertando os botões nessas ordens as setas começam a piscar indicando uma situação de alerta. Isso é muito útil para pedalar em rodovias ou em avenidas, principalmente a noite.
O projeto foi montado usando o Arduino Duemilanove para prototipação e pretendo nos próximos dias fazer um circuito standalone com um ATMEGA8 ou um ATMEGA168 e colocá-lo na bicicleta. Por enquanto disponibilizo o código que usei no protótipo e um vídeo mostrando o funcionamento.
